… and the surgeon said …

Everything looks good.  She added that she thought we (mostly P) are doing a fantastic job of taking care of the wound and that we don’t need to come back next Monday.  Why she decided that we needed an earlier appointment I do not know; it was a little alarming to get that call on Monday.  Anyway, she was happy to see my new fashion accessory, the thigh-high compression stocking.  I told her I was looking for a fishnet version and she said she’d hold me to that.  It was an upbeat meeting that lasted all of five minutes.

Prior to that we spent an hour with the psychiatrist analyzing why we find the surgeon’s meetings (in general) disquieting.  No very definite answers to that; just one of those mysteries of human communication I suppose.  However, from here on we’ll get our prognostications from the oncologist who is a very warm and fuzzy person, much more likely to paint a comfortable picture of the future without having to resort to lying.  The psychiatrist was also very complimentary regarding our handling of the whole situation and seemed to think we are doing very well.

This evening P and I are going to meet a small local Buddhist group for some meditation and discussion.   I am looking forward to getting to know some more people.

I feel as though this is the first day of the rest of my life.
